The blind spot

What's actually happening

Commercial pursuits are long, expensive and mostly unsuccessful. Judging marketing on enquiry volume in a business where one award can be worth millions is close to meaningless.

What you get

Built for Commercial Construction.

Awarded value, not enquiries

Rank channels by contracts won and their value rather than by bids submitted.

Pursuits measured in years

An enquiry from two years ago that finally awards still traces to its source.

Checkable against the ledger

Only exact matches count automatically; anything weaker is flagged, not assumed.

A worked example

The number you can take into a budget meeting.

Not impressions, not leads, not cost per click. Closed revenue, by the channel that produced it, for a period you choose — with the portion we could not trace shown rather than quietly shared out across your paid channels.

Relationships win the work, and they are still measurable

Commercial construction runs on relationships, repeat clients and reputation. That is exactly why most firms conclude marketing cannot be measured here, and stop trying.

It can be measured — it just will not flatter advertising. A correct report for this segment shows a large Direct / Unknown bucket, because most awards genuinely come from relationships rather than campaigns. What the attributed portion tells you is which of your marketing activities actually reaches new clients, and that is a smaller but far more honest number than any tool willing to redistribute the rest.

Award dates make period comparison the only fair test

Awards are lumpy. One quarter can contain a single project worth more than the previous year, which makes month-to-month comparison actively misleading.

Comparing whole years, or the same quarter across years, is the only comparison that means anything here. Because nothing had to be installed at the time, those comparisons can be run over periods that closed long ago.

Why it matters

What changes when you can prove it.

You stop defending the budget and start growing it

"We generated 400 leads" invites an argument. "This channel closed $186,400 last quarter, here is the reconciliation" ends one. The teams that can show closed revenue by channel are the teams that get the next increase approved, because they are asking with evidence rather than with conviction.

You can cut the wrong channel without a fight

Killing spend is politically harder than adding it, because someone always owns the channel being cut. A number that reconciles to the sales export takes the argument out of the room — you are not overruling a colleague's judgement, you are reading the same ledger they are.

Your reporting survives the finance review

Platform-reported conversions do not reconcile to revenue, and eventually someone in finance notices. Reporting built from your own closed-sales export starts from the number finance already trusts, which is why it holds up when it is checked.

You answer in an afternoon, not a quarter

Because this reconciles exports rather than tracking visitors, it works on months that have already closed. You are not instrumenting now to learn something in ninety days — you can answer for last quarter today, which is usually when the question is being asked.

Honest answers

The pushback we hear from Commercial Construction.

They say

Almost all our work is relationship-driven.

We say

Then Direct / Unknown will be large and should be — around 60% is normal. Its size is the finding; the attributed portion tells you what marketing is reaching people the relationships do not.

They say

Our awards are too lumpy to compare.

We say

Which is why the report lets you choose any range. Compare years or the same quarter across years; month-to-month in this business measures luck.

They say

Our project data lives in the PM system, not a CRM.

We say

That is fine. Awarded projects with a client contact detail, a contract value and a date — any layout.

Pricing

Flat monthly pricing. No per-call fees.

The number here is the number on the invoice — no per-call, per-minute or per-form fees. Most commercial contractors and engineering firms land on Enterprise — ten seats for the team and the highest monthly record allowance, since a year of closed deals is a lot of rows.
